Get Fit and Socialize with these Three Activities
Exercising by yourself can sometimes be boring. Having some of your friends to talk to will often make a workout go by much faster. There are many group activities that you can do with your friends to help all of you stay in shape. Here are three of them:
Golf has never been more popular than it is right now. There seems to be a golf course everywhere you look, so you and your friends will most likely not need to travel far to play on a decent course. If you decide to go golfing with your friends, do not use a golf cart. You can get in better shape and burn more calories if you walk the entire course. If you do not have any friends that are interested in golf, go to a public course and ask some of the people there if you can join them. This is a good way to make new friends. When you are finished, you can pick up some golf banners and other fun things in the pro shop as souvenirs to get your friends excited.
Yoga has exploded in popularity over the past ten years. No matter where you live, you should be able to easily find a yoga class that is in your vicinity. Many apartment buildings offer free yoga classes for tenants to take advantage of. You can usually find yoga classes at your local YMCA. There are many different types of yoga, so make sure you know which type of class it is before you show up. For example, Bikram Yoga classes are taught in a room that is usually 105 degrees F with 40 percent humidity. Needless to say, this is not an ideal situation to relax, have fun and socialize with friends or strangers. It should be noted that the majority of people who go to yoga classes are women. This makes it an ideal place for men to socialize, meet women and exercise at the same time.
This is a great physical activity to do with people, not only because of how many calories it burns, but because it won’t cost you anything. Since almost every playground and park has at least a half court, finding a place to play is easy. All you need is a basketball, some good shoes and a cooler for some drinks to keep you hydrated. If you happen to walk by a basketball game at your local gym or on a playground, ask if you can join in. There is a good chance they will let you, especially if they have an uneven number of people.
